Here are my reasons why you should not buy Synology SSD drives:
They are slower than 3rd Gen NVMe drives
The 1.6TB variant costs over 500 USD at the time of writing this reply
There are much better alternatives at much lower prices, such as Japanese Kioxia, European-made Edelware and Goodram products, which you can get at really good prices on DotHardware.com
Synology claims that their NVMe drives have high endurance, which could be true, but alternative brands that I mentioned are also known to be very robust with a long lifetime.
That said, if you want to use the latest Synology NAS models, their own NVMe drives are your only option.
I also recommend against Synology NAS devices. In 2025, there are much better options that offer more freedom and flexibility.
